Temaki Sushi

Cone shaped hand rolls can be filled with anything you like. Enjoy them before the nori wilts, as there’s nothing better than biting into a crispy temaki!

A great thing to do is spread a variety of fillings on a tray, and let your guests simply make their own.

You will need a sheet of nori for one handroll, about 4 by 3.5 inches.

Laying the nori flat on your hand, spread some prepared sushi rice on one half of the nori.
Then, spread your desired filling onto the rice. My favourite is chopped salmon with spicy mayo, and crunchy bits of deep fried tempura batter.

Then, roll the bottom corner of the nori up, where the rice is. Simply continue rolling it until it forms a cone. To keep it from unrolling, you can add a single grain of rice to keep the nori stuck to itself. However, this is not necessary.

Enjoy!

*Note* You can substitute a sheet of katsuo, which is dried shaved bonito flakes compressed into a paper thin sheet. For the filling try asparagus, carrot and sesame seeds.
